The "Promotion of Roma culture through contemporary art" project. ANCIENT ROMAN STORIES", financed by EEA Grants 2014 - 2021 , within the RO-CULTURE Programme, is implemented by the "Ion Creangă" Târgu Neamț Culture House, as a project promoter, in partnership with the NATIONAL ATHENS OF IAțI and DAC MUSIC PERFORMANCE (Norway).

The general objective of the project

The general objective of the project is to increase the level of awareness and valorization of Roma culture through integrative actions with cultural-artistic and professional content with the involvement of Roma people from Neamț county.

The specific objectives of the project:

Increasing the visibility of Roma cultural identity by publishing a research on Roma culture, holding 10 theatrical performances for 400 people and organizing an artistic creation club for 75 children from Neamț county, for 12 months;
Facilitating access to cultural-artistic knowledge and skills, through a vocational counseling program for 70 Roma people, of which 35 will benefit from professional training and running 1 internship program for 5 Roma people, for 4 months;
Improving the reception strategies of Roma culture by developing a platform dedicated to contemporary art created by Roma children and running a cultural inclusion experience exchange in Norway with 15 people, for 12 months.

The main activities carried out within the project are the following:

891,366.53 lei (180,150.47 Euro), of which 85% EEA Grant and 15% the national budget

EEA Grants

The EEA Grants represent the contribution of Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway towards a green, competitive and inclusive Europe. There are two overall objectives: reduction of economic and social disparities in Europe, and to strengthen bilateral relations between the donor countries and 15 EU countries in Central and Southern Europe and the Baltics. The three donor countries cooperate closely with the EU through the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA). The donors have provided €3.3 billion through consecutive grant schemes between 1994 and 2014. For the period 2014-2021, the EEA Grants amount to €1.55 billion. RO-CULTURE Programme

RO-CULTURE is implemented in Romania by the Ministry of Culture through the Project Management Unit. The Programme aims at strengthening social and economic development through cultural cooperation, cultural entrepreneurship and cultural heritage management.
